Adidas warns customers of potential breach

Sportswear company Adidas has warned customers of a “potential data security incident” affecting millions of US customers.

Adidas announced yesterday that on June 26, it “became aware that an unauthorized party claims to have acquired limited data associated with certain adidas consumers”.

The ‘limited data’ includes usernames, encrypted passwords and contact information, but the company does not believe that any payment or health information has been compromised.

It also says that only customers who used adidas.com/US to make purchases are thought to be at risk.

The company says that it is working with cybersecurity companies and law enforcement authorities to investigate the claim, and that it is alerting “relevant consumers”.
