Cloud security solutions provider Armor has announced that Mark Woodward will be joining the company as CEO.
Woodward will be taking over from Chris Drake, who founded the company and who will be the company’s Chief Technology Officer going forward. He will remain a member of the board, but will be focusing more extensively on product strategy, including developing strategic partnerships, creating business opportunities, and advancing Armor’s long-term product vision.
Armor is growing quickly and in a strong financial position, and it is time to double-down.

“Armor is in a unique position to be the ‘definitive leader’ of cloud security, and I am very excited that Mark is joining Armor to help realize that vision,” said Drake. “Armor is growing quickly and in a strong financial position, and it is time to double-down. I am confident that adding Mark to the team will enable Armor to reach new heights.”
Woodward’s previous roles include President and CEO of E2open, President and CEO of Serena Software, and Chariman and CEO of Invoca, as well as having held executive roles at McAfee and Legent. He was instrumental in taking E2open and Serena Software public and overseeing their sale (to Insight Venture Partners and Silver Lake respectively).
Armor has $149.1 million in disclosed investment to date, with the most recent funding being an $89 million Series F round in 2017 – given Woodward’s experience with taking companies public, his appointment may indicate that Armor has similar aims.
“I am truly honored to be joining Armor,” said Woodward. “Under Chris’ exceptional vision and leadership, Armor has grown to become one of the most respected cloud security solutions providers in the industry. Working together, I know that we can accelerate the company’s growth and further extend our markets, all while ensuring that our customers’ critical data is safe.”
